Tuesday morning our minds woke up excited and ready for another day - but our bodies, not so much. We were tired after such a long day of driving and sightseeing (and somewhere during the day, I pulled a muscle in my thigh and could barely walk!). However, HD was not tired and she was ready to go! So we got dressed and went down and enjoyed an great breakfast at our little hotel. The breakfast was a buffet with bread, cheese, meat, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. I LOVE yummy breakfasts!
After breakfast Matt got ready to spend the day skiing. He has wantd to ski in Innsbruck since he was a little kid...so we were excited that he finally got to do it. HD and I planned on taking walks around the little town where we were staying and relaxing in the hotel. However, Matt came back after doing a little investigation and told me that the resort town where he was going skiing was right on the slopes and there were lots of fun things for us to do. So, we went with him.
We drove 30 minutes (and about 7500 feet) up to Kuhtai ski resort. Matt actually enjoyed the slopes at 9500 feet. It was another beautiful drive, but I wasn't prepared for the gorgeous slopes. I have NEVER seen slopes quite like this. Now, I'm not an expert on ski slopes (having only been a few times) but I was impressed. Really impressed. And Matt was too. They were so well groomed and large and accessible.
We parked right at the foot of one of the slopes where we could watch Matt ski (rented - didn't work for more than one run) and snowboard (brought from Utah) a couple of runs. HD slept for the first 1/2 hour we were there so I stayed in the car and read my book and filmed Matt. Once she woke up, I bundled her up in her cute snowsuit and put her on a child' toboggan to ride around in the snow. She wasn't sure what to think, but eventually enjoyed the ride (as long as the sun wasn't in her face).
We loved watching Matt in action. I could tell he was enjoying himself so much. The weather was perfect and the snow was great. It was fun to see Matt do jumps and other tricks and then watch him go back up the mountain. And even though I'm not very good on the snowboard, it made really want to be up there with him.
But HD and I had a good tim together as well. After watching Matt for awhile we decided to walk up and down the main street to see if there was any good shopping. I started out with HD in the stroller but then realized that the toboggan would make more sense since the "sidewalks" and edge of the street were all ice and snow. So I had fun pulling her all over the place and even let her play in the snow at next to some slopes. She loved the snow and even tried to eat a snowball. She had no problem with the cold on her teeth and through her gloves. She is definitely her father's child!
Matt finished around 4 pm and we headed home. I really want him to write about all his adventures on the various slopes, so maybe before we leave I can get him to do a post dedicated to snowboarding.
