Arrived.

So, we're in Italy...The trip went rather well. HD got her own seat on all three flights and was able to sleep in her car seat for the majority of the trip. During our two layovers we tried to let her run around to stretch her legs and get her wiggles out. And boy did she take advantage...she went everywhere! She got a lot of stares and lots of "oh, she's so cute". In New York there was a little Italian boy, 13 months old, also on our flight to Italy. He was enamoured by her and chased her all over the waiting area. And she just ran away...she wanted nothing to do with him. In fact, she seemed a little annoyed by this boy who wouldn't leave her alone. Let's just hope she keeps this attitude up!
Watching over our luggage.
Cute girl and tired Mommy waiting to check in.
Reading the safety guidelines....always be prepared.
Mommy and HD on plane to Atlanta.
Daddy and HD on the plane to JFK.
On the last leg of the trip - shortly before we arrived in VCE.
Matt got some great pictures of the Alps...his true love.

Nonno and Nonna were at the airport to pick us up. All our luggage arrived safely so we were on our way. Matt, HD and I were all very tired and HD fell asleep just minutes outside the airport, while Matt and I both fought to stay awake. We stopped at a panetteria (bakery) on our way home. The smell in the store made the long journey, exhaustion and looming jet lag worth it! Once home Nonna served us a delicious lunch of tagliatelle (homemade), with chicken and mashed potatoes. After 24 hours of airplane and airport food, it tasted divine. Shortly after lunch, we put HD down for a nap. And then Matt and I gave in and took a nap as well. This is normally "against the rules" in order to avoid further jet lag, but we literally couldn't keep our eyes open any longer.

After our naps we headed to downtown Pordenone to walk around and see the sights. HD loves being outside and on the move, so it was perfect. And there was a carousel, so she got her first (and second, and third - thank Nonna!) ride on a carousel. She loved it and wasn't sure she wanted to get off.

Walking the streets of downtown Pordenone.
Trying out the ostrich.

I love this picture of her.

We also went to the grocery store and picked up a few things we didn't bring with us. After dinner, we sent HD to bed and followed shortly after...for a little about our first night, read on...

Yea! I'm so excited for you guys, and I'm glad you made it there okay. That first night was pretty rough for us too, but hopefully Hailey will be better tonight. I love the picture of Hailey in the stroller with her nonna pushing her. I bet Matt's mom is loving it!

Oh the memories. How fun for all of you. Remember our first night in Italy when we were all awake about 3 am and couldn't go back to sleep. It was a party.
My evening was rather interesting, I watched a young man from IMA have a seizure while bowling. He had a number of them while on one of the lanes. Not a pretty sight and I didn't help because there were so many people around him. The paramedics came and so did his Mom. I guess it happens a lot. So, enjoy Italy and I will enjoy bowling. Not!
